MY FAVORITE SPORTS
SOCCER
Soccer now, is my favorite sport out of the few that I play. I played recreational soccer when I was younger, around 3rd or 4th grade but with a co-ed team, I didn't get the ball as much, as the guys would hog the ball (which they still do). I tried being a goal keeper at a point before our last game but someone from the sideline kicked a ball right at my face, he wasn't even on one of the teams.. As a 10 year old drama queen, I went off on the kid and my mom took me away, and I didn't play soccer since then. Once I got to high school, my freshman year I wanted to start over, and when I tried out after two weeks of preseason, I made JV. With little experience and being self taught, I started as a midfielder. The girls somewhat considered me as a captain. I never played for a club, and I still don't because I don't have that type of money.. After that, I really liked soccer and I made a second family with the girls. Last year (Sophomore) I made Varsity, where I came in with a few girls from JV as well. I met new people and the seniors pretty much intimidated me a little, one of them criticized me when I did something wrong, and it wasn't only to me. Besides that, I started as a midfielder in my first Varsity soccer year as well, and it was when I first played on the Professional Red Bull's Arena field. It was a lot of pressure and the season was very rough as I tried to fit in.. Let's just say Sophomore soccer year wasn't really the best. This year I had more pressure on my shoulders as an upperclassman. The girls knew how I played, everyone expected me to be a captain, listing everything I do during the season. We didn't have numbers for two teams, so everyone that tried out made Varsity this year. This year we all started fresh, with all new girls and a basically new roster. Like last year, we only won 1 game, which is upsetting, but we had a bond that we didn't have last year. Now, I'm just waiting for my senior year and see what the season brings.
SOFTBALL
Softball is a very big second in my favorite sports. I played little league t-ball/baseball when I was younger and then stopped. The softball program for Harrison started when I was in 7th grade, but I didn't play that year because I wasn't too into it at the time. My 8th grade year though, I tried out and made the team and I started as an outfielder. Going into high school I tried out and made the Varsity roster in my freshman year, but then I got brought down for I don't know what reason.. I played JV and I ended up playing every position in that season besides pitcher because I'm terrible at that. Instead of liking outfield, I really liked 3rd base. Last year, I made Varsity, and I started in 2nd base, which I really liked as well. Second, third base, and left outfield are my favorite positions (more infield though). Sadly, last year I was only able to play 3 games before I injured myself in practice. My friend hit a fast ground ball to me and I put my hand down too soon, I then found out I fractured and dislocated my right index finger when I got it checked out. I still went to the practices and games as much as I can though, hence the picture above. Both teams that I was on got along really well with each other so there were little to no problems. This year now, is comeback season for me.
BASKETBALL
Even though I'm not playing Basketball anymore in high school, it's still a favorite sport of mine. I played recreational basketball from 3rd grade and into a few years later. In middle school, I played in all 3 years. Once I got to highschool I lost interest in the sport so my freshman year, I didn't play. Last year I tried out to see if I wanted to continue, and I made Varsity and also towards the end I went to JV as well to get more play time. Since I realized that I wasn't really interested in Basketball anymore, this year I didn't end up trying out. It made multiple people upset since I did play in the past but as I grew up I was more focused on Soccer and Softball. I am also trying to look for work, since I don't have a job as of right now.
