My Bucket List

A bucket list is described as a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have accomplish during their lifetime. When making a bucket list, you are simply writing down the things that you've always wanted to do but never got around to doing it. A bucket list is suppose to motivate the people to work on a goal so then when the list is accomplished, then the person feels satisfied that they worked so hard on a goal for their entire life and was able to make it a success. An example of what some people put on their bucket list is bungee jumping, skydiving, traveling, or learning a new language. The list can consist of things that can easily be done like learning how to ride a bike to long term goals, like running a marathon. Below are some of the things on my bucket list.

Disney World pictureOne of the things on my bucket list is that I want to save enough money to bring my whole family to Disney World. Walt Disney World is located in Bay Lake, Florida and is considered the flagship of Disney's worldwide theme park empire. It is commonly described as a magical fantasy world that is filled with excitement and relaxtion. It is the ultimate vacation spot and is one of the most visited places. My mom's number one wish is to visit Disney World and I want to make sure that her wish comes true. My mom has a job which doesn't pay well and with the money she does make, she has to spend on paying bills and buying clothes and food for the five children living in the house. In addition, she also has to pay for all of our colleges and so by saving for this trip, I would be making her dream that she thought would never come true actually become real.

Charitable Foundation pictureA long term bucket list goal of mine that I have been imagining since I was 8 years old, is that I would love to be a cofounder of a charitable foundation. A charitable foundation is a legal category of nonprofit organization that will typically either donate funds and support to other organizations, or provide the source of funding for its own charitable purposes. My dream was to build a foundation that will help people in certain ways. For instance, a mental health hospital where we help people from ages 3 to 18 cope with any mental disabilities they are going through. Or the foundation can be built to help minority people get the essentials they need to get through life. They need education, food, shelter if possible, and clothing. My sister is studying business management and I am going to study speech pathology and with both of our degrees, the step of actually building a charitable foundation is possible.

Although the goal does not seem much, getting a Doctor of Philosophy degree takes a long time to get. First you have to have your bachelor's and master's degree in order to work on your PhD. Then the amount of time a PhD takes is about 7 years, depending on what type of field you are studying for. I would have to work on internships, volunteering, clinical training, and participate in research programs in order to be great in the medical aspect of Speech Pathology. Being a Speech Pathology is great financially and makes it easier to have a good career. However, my dream is to work at a hospital to help children with their speech impediments. In order to work in a hospital, it will be beneficial to me if I had my PhD so the process of filing for a job at a hospital will be easier for me.
